ALEXANDRIA, VA - On January 19, 2018, J. Madison PLC attorneys Jacob M. Small and Benjamin R. Inman asked United States District Judge Liam O’Grady to order permanent change at the Defense Security Service (“DSS”), a Department of Defense agency that J. Madison PLC sued on client Patricia Burke’s behalf in 2016. After a week-and-a-half trial in November 2017, the jury found in favor of Ms. Burke, finding that DSS had subjected her to hostile work environment harassment in retaliation for her protected complaints of gender discrimination.
In its brief seeking a permanent injunction after the trial, J. Madison PLC attorneys argued that DSS should be forced to enact changes to its EEO program and to protect Ms. Burke from further retaliation by requiring that she be moved outside of the supervision of her harassers. In open Court on January 19, 2018, and again in an order handed down January 23, 2018, Judge O’Grady agreed. You can see the order that J. Madison PLC secured for its client here, and you can read more about this victory in the Washington Post.
